- Hotel King's Court
Delflandlaan 4, アムステルダム オランダ
I read reviews before going here and got myself worried about some of the things people were writing but we did not have a problem. Stayed here 4 nights, room got cleaned everyday. Breakfast was very limited but was plenty for both of us. If I was being picky there might be a few things but you don’t spend long in hotel room anyway. Staff were always friendly and very helpful. A bit far from the centre, 20 minutes on the tram, tram station was a few minutes walk from the hotel. Trams were around €36 all together for both of us for 3 days which is good. Would return here if I went back to Amsterdam. Good hotel for good price, you get what you pay for.
Nice 3 night stay
This was my second visit to Amsterdam and booked this hotel to stay at, previously I stayed in the Centrum (City Centre) but thats just paying extra for being directly there. Nope, you can get some good deals if you don't mind a 20min+ tram ride to the city centre and to be honets it's not more than 2mins walk to the stop, whilst i'm going on about it, between the hotel and the City Centre, there are shops, take-aways etc so on your way back, you can stop off for a bit of tea etc. GVB do pre-paid tickets and they really are not that expensive so there was for me no need to be in the City Centre Hotels. The good side is the hotel is pretty close to Schiphol Airport and only one train station away (Amsterdam Leylaan) so lugging cases etc is not an issue, (one stop from Schipol, next tram stop from Leylaan) simples! The room was excellent, served it's purpose,a nd to be honest, your not in that much, the cleanignb was impeccable on my visit, the kettle was good and useful, the bathroom was excellent and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they have a secure room you can leave you bags if you've checked out, but are on a later flight, so you get to enjoy maybe more time in Amsterdam. Breakfast was ok, could be more choice but plenty of what there is. All in all, a good hotle for your pennies, if you don't mind a 20+ mins tram ride (Tram 17- from Derkinderenstraat stop, 2 mins from hotel (you can see the tramway from the front door, note this stop has steps and is not wheelchair usable or for those with limited mobility!) I was happy staying here, why pay silly pennies for being slap bang in the centre, when you can have the same standard of hotel for less pennies, but just a little ride away....
Hotel of horror
Where do I start?
This hotel was booked for me by my travel agent because a ‘special ‘deal’ had just come through. We were looking for a 4 star reviewed hotel close to the city that was safe for a woman travelling alone.
On arrival it seemed jaded with no one to greet you but I thought maybe it would get better..
I was surprised to see ladders left unattended, while rooms not fully completed, ceiling panels removed etc
A very small box. Travelling alone I can only suppose they thought it would be okay to just give me something not much bigger than a walk in wardrobe,
The bed was a very old mattress that tilted to the side when you lay on it.
No sheet - just a very thin nylon mattress protector type cover that you could see through. I asked for a proper sheet and was told that is how it is in Amsterdam, I think not!
The air con was so noisy - think motorbike engine. It was ineffective in that it didn’t really cool the room, which you need it to do lying in a nylon sheet in small box room. I complained - and they switched off the ‘cooling function ‘ so I could only have it on heating!
The carpet was filthy with stains everywhere,
Two prices of wood left in my room from the so called renovations
You had to sit at an angle in the toilet because the metal toilet roll holder was positioned so as to just out over the toilet
No towel rail - again I was told that’s how it is in Amsterdam and I could use the hook on the door - so where was I supposed to hang my clothes?
One VERY thin towel to use
The cheapest breakfast selection they could supply it seemed. Awful. There were signs up everywhere telling you if you waste food or eat too much they would fine you 20euro
No other food at the hotel which meant you had no choice but to eat out, but there is nothing near the hotel at all. I saw Uber eats visiting a lot.
The hotel is not a short trip to the centre. It takes over 30 minutes by tram. It’s in a run down area with a main road nearby, so coming back in the late afternoon on my own I did not feel safe.
The worst part about it - if there can be a worst part is the rudeness of the young man on reception. I had asked to move rooms and even pay to upgrade but he was astonishingly rude. For someone who works with the public I was amazed at his rudeness. He should not be employed in hospitality. It appeared that the condition of the hotel was well known and they just didn’t care.
I transferred to a better hotel for the rest of my stay and on the way the taxi driver told me that this hotel is well known for it being substandard.
All I can say is, don’t ever stay here. It’s horrific
